The Handoff

Your family's just-in-case file

If something happens to you, they'll know exactly what to do.

The Handoff keeps a map of your accounts, policies, and bills, plus photos and videos for the people you love. Your trusted person gets a step-by-step closeout plan only after a careful, verified release.

How it works

1

Build your file, step by step

A guided walk-through asks the right questions: banks, insurance, retirement, mortgage, bills, subscriptions. Or paste the senders from your inbox and The Handoff maps your accounts for you.

2

Pick your trusted people

Name up to 3 trusted people who'll handle things, and the loved ones who should receive your keepsakes. They see nothing until a release is approved.

3

A careful handoff

If the worst happens, your trusted person submits documentation and ID. We verify it, you get a waiting period to stop it, and only then do they get the plan and drafted letters.

New

The keepsake vault

Save photos and videos for the people you love: a birthday message for your grandkids, the recipe video, the wedding toast you never got to give. Choose who receives each one. They're encrypted and stay private until release, then go only to the people you picked.

  • Photos and videos, up to 2 GB free
  • Pick recipients for each keepsake
  • Never public, never a shareable link

What your trusted person gets

Who to call

Every bank, lender, and agency, with the last 4 digits and phone numbers you left them.

What to cancel, what to claim

Subscriptions to stop, and the life insurance and retirement accounts that may pay out. Forgotten policies are how money gets left on the table.

Drafted letters

A ready-to-send notification letter for each institution, plus your notes and wishes in your own words.

Built to be trusted with this

Encrypted

Your family file and every keepsake are encrypted on our servers, and every connection uses HTTPS.

Minimal by design

No full account numbers, no SSNs, no passwords. Only what your family needs to find the account.

Every access logged

An activity log shows every change, download, and release step on your account.

Questions

Is this a will?

No. The Handoff is an organizer, not a legal document and not legal advice. It works alongside your will or trust by making sure the people handling things can find everything.

What if someone tries to trigger a release early?

They'd need to be your named trusted person, signed in with the email you invited, and submit documentation plus their own ID. Our team reviews it by hand, and you get a waiting period you choose (1 to 7 days, 3 by default) to stop it with one click. If they attach a death certificate or obituary that our team approves and you don't respond within 1 hour of us contacting you, it releases then.

Do you read my email?

No. The account mapper works from a list of sender addresses you paste in. We match them to institutions, keep only the account names you approve, and throw the pasted text away.

How much does it cost?

The Handoff is free while we're getting started.

Give them a plan, not a puzzle.
